Volume
Volume
The term is of classical use everyday and in Geometry, and describes the measure of space taken by an object. In the recent decades it has taken also the meaning of "quantity" - the meaning is absent on dictionaries up to the 80's, and appears uniformly later on. For a mathematician, those two uses are really at odds with each other (to be technical, the original meaning is continuous, the other one is discrete), but current usage seems settled.

Taken up and treated here.
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
