Oolite
Oolite or oölite (egg stone) is a sedimentary rock formed from ooids, spherical grains composed of concentric layers, usually formed from calcium carbonate. They may also form from hematite, and ore of iron.

Now that I've looked it up, I understand. I guess I never made the connection, as there is usually a 'v' in between the first two letters making the tie-in obvious. Egg rock; the round bits that make it make it look like fish roe.
