I wonder if the plural is necessary, or even allowed, here. Wouldn't it work just as well in the singular, 'continued interfation'? And, as it's an extremely obscure, obsolete word, how do we find out if it's a count noun or not?

alphaDictionary's search of almost all the English dictionaries on the Web turns up zilch. OED offers two citations from the 17th century. Its etymology only goes back to Latin interfari: inter- "between" + fari "to speak".

Well, if the word is obscure, it shouldn't be! It's much needed in our uncivil society.
