Simply put, this is the study of the influence of climate on recurring natural phenomena. Certainly an important word today when discussing global climate change. From Greek phaino, to show and logo, to study.

I first read this as "phrenology"; not the same!

Then "phenomenology"; closer but not a match, though possibly related.

I shall have to remember this exact word for what it actually is. Yes, a very important and topical concept these days.
