velcro noise

Postby Eileen Opiolka » Tue Oct 18, 2022 5:36 pm

Could anybody help with an English word for the noise Velcro makes when opening? Rip doesn't quite sound right.
In German it's Ratsch.
Thank you in advance,

I got the family onto this one and no-one was entirely comfortable with any of the suggestions. Tzep was as sweet as any of the ideas but not really right. We played around here and tried to work out exactly what causes the distinctive noise - surely not the straightening of the hooks? Perhaps the tearing of the soft loops although the stuff is remarkably resilient only decaying after extensive usage. So presumably the loops don't actually break. Any ideas on what physically happens to create the distinctive sound? Maybe that would give some ideas.

Many thanks for that. I replied to you before reading your suggestion!
Still thinking.
