Battery
Re: Battery
Or any violence, for that matter.
There's also the Battery in Charleston, SC, which is now a promenade but which used to be where guns were emplaced to guard the harbor. It's always rather low though, and may in time be inundated by rising sea level. It's well enough known that it has been adopted as the name of the local soccer team. (If not assault, at least enthusiastic competition.)

Re: Battery
Not to mention battery farming.
All from the same origin apparently - battre, to strike in Old French.
I can see assault and battery. I can see gun emplacements. I can see batsmen in cricket. But battery farming and car batteries...?
Is a battery a place where Yorkshire pudding (batter) is made?
