Arsoner

“Thursday before the Feast of Purification, 9 Edward I. [A.D. 1280-1], came Richard Pruet and acknowledged himself bound to William de Hamme, "arsoner," (*) in the sum of £6 for wool; the same to be paid, viz., 60s. at Easter and 60s. at Whitsuntide; and unless, &c.”

From: 'Folios 11 - 20', Calendar of letter-books of the city of London: A: 1275-1298 (1899), pp. 20-42. URL: http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report ... mpid=33021.

(*)A maker of saddle-bows. Fr. arzon, arzoun, arzon de sele, a bow or arch for the saddle. 'Lib. Cust.' (Rolls Series), Glossary.
Nothing to do with incendiary or arsonous/arsonist thus noteworthy.
