etiolate

Postby Flaminius » Sat Feb 19, 2005 10:37 am

Etiolate is one of the words that I have difficulty in using within a proper context.

Mira read the telegram and went pale.
The telegram etiolated Mira.

Etiology is similar word but comes from a differenct source by the way.

ETIOLATED

Postby KatyBr » Sat Feb 19, 2005 1:13 pm

etiolated is a plant that has grown tall thin and pale seeking the sun where it can't get enough to build any good chlorophil to be healthy.
I use it t discribe a certain class of female child who has grown tall and painfully thin, whose clothing seems to hover 1/2 inch above the surface of her skin. But I'm using it wrong too.
