Autological

Postby call_copse » Mon Aug 22, 2016 7:25 am

A word that expresses or embodies a quality that it possesses e.g. adjectival is itself adjectival. Antonym heterological. For those who like turning their brains inside out see also:

From discussion of hullaballo.

Oddly, dictionary.com does not have this word. It has homological and homologous, but doesn't go on auto. Other word sites I've come across have it, but it appears homological outweighs autological. Then again, homological isn't used for words as much.
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
