New word from S India included in Oxford Dictionary, but apparently very diluted...

Similar problem with colloquial Spanish word "ya," which seems to turn up in numerous sentences like some people in English throw in "you know" at random. Those of you who are familiar with Tex-Mex can you help. I've asked some speakers, even teachers, I know and haven't gojt a satisfactory answer. I think it's one of those expressions, like aiyo above, that you just haave to develop a feeling for. I do know the lexicon says it means "already." Philip Hudson, do you recognize this?
