Whipsaw
Is this used by anyone other than me, to refer to besting in two ways at once, such as Putin besting the USA by fiddling with the election and then sucking Trump and Flynn into negotiating the removal of sanctions prior to January 20? Did I use that in the right sense?

Re: Whipsaw
While I see that this can be used in cards or betting in this fashion, I would use it as a violent form of seesawing. Teetering back and forth over something. Like buildings in a cataclysmic earthquake might do, just before crashing to the ground.
Or, in the sense of battering, as in an economy whipsawed by opposing influences that add up to disaster.
Whatever is being whipsawed needs to be going to two directions at once, though.

Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
