Ephemera
Meaning lasting a day. From PIE "amer". I am unable to locate any other Indo European words generated by this root. Anyone?

Re: Ephemera
It's not a strictly exact treatment, but ephemeral has been to the Good Dr.'s office. I don't believe I've ever seen the singular of ephemera used. Couldn't there be just one fleeting thingy?

Re: Ephemera
There's also ephemeris/ephemerides, quite meaningful in nautical and astronomical environments.

Re: Ephemera
I am also reminded of ephemerid, the bug type.
Also, it turns out that ephemera, though the plural of ephemeron, has a plural. Ephemeras/ephemerae. A bit odd, that.
