Profuse

Postby William Hupy » Fri Nov 17, 2017 9:45 am

It appears this word comes to us directly from Latin, profusus, meaning to spread out, lavish, which, in turn, received it from the PIE root, PER, forward + fundere.

Several of the -fuse words are covered in the discussion of suffuse, but this one has a different feel to it. Especially with the tie-in to apologies, the fact that the stress is on the ultima, and that it's an adjective while the others are verbs.
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
