Interim

I believe this word comes to the English speaking world unaltered in spelling and meaning. We grabbed it during that great migration/theft/borrowing of Latinate words in the 16th century. Meaning, meanwhile.

It may mean meanwhile, but it can't be used the same way. We can't really say, "Interim, back at the ranch...".
