Northern UK slang maybe? To make a fairly low level but persistently annoying fuss, to witter in a complaining manner. Not sure where it comes from, but a whinging child might be told 'Stop your mithering' or similar.

A good one to add to blither, as in "a mithering, blithering idiot."
