Gulosity

Gluttony. Overconsumption of food. ''Americans will demonstrate much gulosity on Thanksgiving Day.'' I thought this word might be appropo since all of us here in the USA will be doing quite a bit of overeating tomorrow.

I wonder if this one could be used metaphorically for other ideas, not just food. Can we demonstrate gulosity in our love of words? Would that make us gulositous?
Examples found on the internot are mostly about Christian consumption of comestibles, though.
