Smug

"Smug" is a good, short, punchy word that refers to a quality we should all avoid. I hope I'm not guilty of it when I assume that it would be a good topic for Word of the Day.

One of those words that's wandered a bit from its roots. Originally it meant 'trim, neat', which went on to become the over-confidence being spiffily turned out can impart.

Related to smock, too.
