Sarcopenia

Postby tkowal » Mon Jul 08, 2019 9:22 am

Sarcopenia is the degenerative loss of skeletal muscle and it combines two Greek roots: sarx (σάρξ) "flesh" and penia (πενία) "poverty". The first root appears also in sarcophagus!

The second part is penury, too.

Anthropophagus sarcophagus. I like it, but it appears the first word is a noun, not an adjective.

Also sarcasm – figuratively 'tearing/stripping the flesh' (with a 'cutting' remark).
