Ferrous

From Latin, meaning iron. In English
: containing or consisting of iron. A person who shoes horses is a farrier.

Here’s an interesting bit of speculation: the Latin is possibly of Etruscan origin from Semitic. If so, there was substantial trade in the prehistoric Mediterranean.

Who could forget the box office cast-iron hit movie 'Ferrous Bueller's Day Off'?
