A Period to the Period?

Here's an article from the NYT suggesting that the period is fading from use and becoming something entirely new. I'm not so sure I agree, as the change is in texting and "social" media, not in real writing. However, for interest's sake, there it is.

I wonder what Mr. Crystal thinks about this now that the 140 character limit has been dropped.

It's almost interesting that they don't use a period in most of the article, but then again, they write almost only one sentence paragraphs, double-spaced between them, making the break obvious.

At least the link is still valid and readable.
