Forgive the popups

Postby Dr. Goodword » Thu Mar 18, 2021 7:40 pm

I've tried for weeks now to figure out how to stop the Google popups. I've told you what Google tells me and several other "experts" but the advice they give flounders before the Google ads. I could just eliminate all Google ads, but I need the pittance they bring in to keep the website and Good Words up and running.

If anyone reading this knows how to stop the Google ads coming from Adsense, please let me know.

Well, there is one way, and I admit I use it. Unfortunately, it also means not getting any hits credited to the host site, which here is you.

I have three blockers added on to my browser: Adblock Plus, Ghostery, and Privacy Badger. I rarely see ads anywhere.

https://www.ghostery.com/
https://privacybadger.org/

They are all free.

The way to prevent malicious ads from taking over is to load the adwords code within an iframe. The iframe tag has a sandbox property which, with an empty value, broadly limits what the ad content can do. You can allow the ad to certain things piecemeal and I recommend the mozilla reference for the details:
