Rhyming Compounds

Postby Dr. Goodword » Fri Jul 18, 2008 10:57 pm

The latest addition to the site is a glossary of rhyming compounds (sing-song, flip-flop, etc.) along with an essay discussing them. You can get started with them at http://www.alphadictionary.com/articles ... nds00.html

So what category would hunky-dory fall into?

I'd call it complex, like topsy-turvy in the list.

These [complex] are not rhyming compounds but they do share the rhythmical character of rhyming compounds.
Rhyming-shmiming.

That would be Type 5.

Actually, he's a dog gone. We kept him for a week while our dog, Dudley (the Hound from Hell), was a "guest" of the trainer for a week to try to work our his anger management issues. The dog in the picture is a Perro de Presa Canario, although the trainer wasn't sure he was a purebred. He was cute but big, knee-high to my wife and completely filling my lap at only 9 weeks. He's since been placed by the same rescue org we got Dudley from. Some day I'll get around to replacing the photo. Considering how long as it's been up, you're the first one who commented on it!

And of course the post was in 2008. You still have
the dog as avatar: too late to change now, right?

Nice doggie; I love dogs, have a small one myself.
Half chihuahua/ half King Charles Spaniel Cavalier.
Really great company.

Now I am the second one to comment on your dog.
