Odd Links on Internet Explorer

Postby Dr. Goodword » Thu Mar 07, 2013 11:31 pm

If you are getting odd links to commercial sites in your daily Good Word and you are using Internet Explorer, these are not coming from yours truly. Someone at Microsoft got the bright idea of selling words on any page their browser displays to advertisers. I recommend using Google's Chrome or Mozilla's Firefox if you find them annoying. In fact, we at alphaDictionary recommend these two browsers for other reasons, as well.

Down with AIEEE! I don't use it myself, but I keep getting stuff dumped in there. Most recently, 33 megabytes of temporary Internet files. I repeat, I don't use the program. Where did they come from and how did they get there? I'll never know. Firefox is my choice of weapon for dealing with the Internot.

Would someone please throw out a lifeline to one of those who would have to take night classes at the Stupid School to work their way up to "computer illiterate":

Does either Firefox or Mozilla have a way of adding favorite internet sites (such as this one) so that with one click on the site's icon one is connected without having to manually enter a long IP address; and am I correct in assuming that I'd have to manually re-enter all the IE "Favorite Places" URLs into the new browser?

It seems self-evident that I would, but I'd like to get this confirmed, as I have long believed that "it's better to sweat now than bleed later".

Of course it's all moot if I die from the symptoms of this first cold I've had in 15 years...

I'm not sure just what you're asking, as I don't use IE, but it sounds like simply making bookmarks.

Use your IE list to go to the site desired. Copy the URL and put it into Firefox. Once Firefox is there, make a bookmark of it.

Or do I misconstrue?
