Postby Audiendus » Thu Jul 31, 2014 10:43 am

This will be a poem entitled "The Shipwreck", of 24 lines (six 4-line stanzas) in anapaestic metre (or "anapestic meter" if you prefer  ), consisting of lines of 4 and 3 feet (12 and 9 syllables) alternately, i.e:

da-da-DUM da-da-DUM da-da-DUM da-da-DUM
da-da-DUM da-da-DUM da-da-DUM,
da-da-DUM da-da-DUM da-da-DUM da-da-DUM
da-da-DUM da-da-DUM da-da-DUM.

Line 2 will rhyme with line 4; line 6 will rhyme with line 8, etc. Odd-numbered lines will not rhyme.

As usual, please copy the existing lines together with your new line. The title and first line are as follows:

The Shipwreck

When the crew felt a surge in the strength of the wind

The Shipwreck

When the crew felt a surge in the strength of the wind
They all knew right away they were sunk
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
