Nave
The nave of a church is the main portion. Strangely, it comes from the same root as ship, navis. Then again maybe not so strange if you consider a vague resemblance in shape. Query: do knaves occupy the nave? Is there a connection between the two?

Re: Nave
Indeed, at times Knaves have occupied the Nave. Yet the word knave to me has a good connotation, perhaps from sharing kn- with knight?
