The Ukrainians are fighting to free the territory which is probably the origin of all Indo-European peoples. The Dnepr River runs through Kjiv to the Black Sea. The best guess where Proto-Indo-European was spoken is along some large river running through a flat land. The Pontic Steppe extends from Poland to Kazakhstan. Ukraine and its Dnepr River is roughly the midpoint between Europe and India. So the Ukrainians are most likely fighting for the homeland of all Europeans and most Indians.
