Things Kids Say

The greatest mental feat of any human being is the mastery of language. The grammar of any language is one of the most complicated systems humans have ever created. We know this from our attempts to master a second language. It is miraculous, therefore, (1) that we master this intensely complex system between the ages of two and six, and (2) that we do it all unknowingly, unconsciously. (Do you remember when your parents taught you how to form relative clauses in your native language? How about passive sentences?) Of course, we learn from our errors, so it stands to reason that in learning our most complicated subject, we will make a lot of errors. Kids do just that and many of them, because the errors may be interpreted in odd ways, are hilarious. This section of the alphaDictionary site is devoted to recording as many of this funny errors as is possible.
