Hey, Kids! This week you will learn about homonyms - these are words that are spelled or pronounced the same but have different meanings. They can be tricky!

Today's Words Are:

Hear It!

affect

Which Means:

To have an influence on something.

As In:

Image What can you do to affect the environment in a positive way?

Heads Up!

This verb means to have an effect but it is not spelled like effect!

Hear It!

effect

Which Means:

To make something happen, to cause a change.

As In:

Image John effected many changes when he joined the club.

Heads Up!

Do not confuse this verb with 'affect', which we also had today. To affect is simply to influence something.
