David, referring to the note I just sent, that would seem to me to be a good teaching moment, no?

Re: Refulgent

Oh, David! I don't think of it as snobbery. I prefer pedantry. I think the only chance the human world stands for repair (though this is most unlikely) is through open honest conversation. Re: Jackpot

Is it too far afield to claim that POTUS in the political sense, and potus as in drinking cup might overlap, as in "one in his cups", when listening to at least one of the candidates aspiring to that office this time around?

Re: Circumvent

Slidden sounds like an onomatopoetic choice.

While it's longer, it would never occur to me to use meaning 1 of this word instead of circumambulate.

Learn something new everyday is my motto.
Now if I could just get my head to agree to hang onto the new...

Re: Metier

"Russian men'she "less, fewer",..." I don't know if the "she" is pronounced as the English word or if it is foreshortened. If the latter, it would increase the seeming similarity (though I doubt this is the case) to the word "mensch". The sounds may be similar...

"... or at least my human effort..."

Slava, does that mean some of your efforts are inhuman(e)? unhuman? or perhaps superhuman?
