wellness
Used ad nauseum - hereabouts, at least - and health merchants alike. Does it exist as an actual word? Get'cher wellness here? I think bloody not, and it is my hope that such a corruption does not worm its way further into my language.
I watched my father eat tongue, along with certain other unspeakable bits. I, myself, have been hungry, but have never actually starved. So I, too, shall pass. Thank-you ever so much. As to the nuclear/nukular debate, I can say only that it must be embarrassing to have elected an unrepentant buffoon...

On a tangent . .
On a tangent, old English currency consisted of Pounds, shillings and pence - pennies to you Philistines -, the symbols for which were L, s and d. The "d" came from the Latin "denarius", for "penny", but the origin of the "L", which cannot be properly produced...

it could be argued that the Anglo-Saxons had 'higher' culture than any of those medieval invaders, but, in fact, they nearly fell to Viking/Danish invasion and they really did fall to Norman invasion. Whatever their culture, they lacked military strength. H'm. I disagree with both statements, I thi...

FNG speaks
Arf! Arf! Howdy, Yawl. I am a Canadian, born elsewhere of Polish expatriate parents. I am very pleased to have stumbled upon this site. I have been a traveller for most of my life, and have been fascinated by the English language and its dialects since I began learning them. This promises to be a fu...
