Re: Boudoir
I'm thinking this word has been fully Anglicized and can just as well be pronounced with the accent on the first syllable. Anyone else?

Re: Ocean
I don't recall where I've come across it, but an interesting usage is "such-and-such is in for an ocean of hurt". Ouch!

Billy's sibling sure sounds like a budding lawyer, no?

Re: Slobber
Just in case anyone has any doubts, slaver here is pronounced with an 'æ', not an 'ay'. The difference is rather significant.

Re: Debauch
I thought for a bit that balk would be a good Good Word, but then I looked it up. Way too many uses and meanings for what is generally covered here, a dozen each of nouns and verbs. Oof! What a difference a letter makes, too! Change that 'a' to an 'o' and you get debouch . Completely new word, unrel...

Re: Maelstrom
Parsed differently, we could use malestorm to mean a nasty bout of text messages, a bad e-storm, that is.

Re: CHIASMUS
Cabernet is correct. Solo here means a Solo cup, a plastic drinking cup. The second solo means alone.

Re: CHIASMUS
As I'm forced to listen to country music when I ride the bus, I happen to have heard an interesting example of this (several times). I don't know the song's title, but one line stands out:
"drinking cab in a Solo, solo in the cab of my truck". A neat bit of wordplay, I'd say.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Chiasmus is indeed the word I was looking for! At last I can make my post about it. Whew!
And thanks for your poetic contributions, too. I sure don't have the talent.

Re: Malaphor
Catachresis here reminds me of a poetry word I've been trying to remember but can't come up with. It's the style of making an X of the senses or terms in a passage; Line 1 has A and B, Line 2 matches them B to A. It's not catachresis, but it's something quite similar, no? Can anyone come up with the...

Re: Malediction
If maledict is still technically available, then we can also use it in the passive and say something or someone has been maledicted, no? Sounds like a good title for a Halloween movie to me. Or a creepy TV show: The Maledicted. If you feel there is such a thing as a good addiction, I suppose you cou...

Tea
I never knew our English 'tea is' actually related to all those other chai's and cha's and whatnots out there. It actually started out as chaa, and rhymed with obey, much as modern French doth now.

Re: Egad
This may not be a commonly used word in the real world these days, but do a crossword puzzle or two and you're pretty much bound to run into it. They have their own vocabulary at times.
