Welcome back, Huny! I've heard the same thing from my Alabama-raised grandfather in Oregon. Pretty effective word... Thank you, skinem. My hiatus was due to the bustle of the Christmas season. Being in - how should I say this- the diamond "export" business can be demanding during that tim...

You are a member of the Alpha Agora. Seems like an identity to my Huny Pie.
Well, I guess you're right. This is a place where accents are a topic of good conversation, not a downfall.

I took the accent quiz and it said I was mostly from the west but most likely from the inland north...I never lived there. I also took one of the California quizzes and it said I only had family there and vacation there. Ha. I was raised there. Guess it goes to show how long I have lived in GA. I al...

Hello, again, everyone! This reminds me of my Georgia raised grandfather when he would say to a stray dog that wandered into the yard, " Gitonouttaheah !" through his nose. This was the first time I realized he was not from these parts of California and the first time I realized there was ...

Actually Bailey, you get credit in my book for inventing the throwaway line as a middle name convention. Many of us copy it shamelessly (as I did to reassure that I wasn't really keeping score). That's exactly what I'm referring to! Bailey is real good at being quick on his feet. My mind could neve...

Thank you, everyone, for your input. This has been a word that I have wondered about for some time. I wonder why we even bother having "proper" grammar any more (not like mine is proper to begin with  ). It seems that most dictionaries have an evolved form of some original words and ...

A complex question

I am stumped at how to use the word "complexion" when describing a persons complexion. I always hear people use " She is a fair complected woman" but was told the proper way was "She is a fair complexioned woman" When researching the words, it appears as if no one else ...

In honor of the season, a bad, well-known one... A man was walking home alone late one foggy night, when behind him he hears: BUMP... BUMP... BUMP... Walking faster, he looks back. Through the fog, he sees an upright casket banging its way toward him. BUMP... BUMP... BUMP... Terrified, the man runs...

Also, I'm glad you like the tag line. :D I have used that phrase for many years now and for some reason, some people don't seem to get the message... And how many of them fall the purview of the tagline? I try not to say it in front of mixed company, but in the presence of those in wh...

It shouldn't have been THAT drastic a change, unless maybe you were still using CPM or Microsoft DOS Version 2.0 . . . BTW, I love that new tagline--it's all too true. I know too many people who should not be allowed to swim in the gene pool. The entire company went from keyboards to touch screen a...

I don't know about that spider, but we have some pretty strange jumping spiders around these h'yar parts. Luckily, they usually jump away from us.
This was ugly enough to to make us jump away from it...Hmm...I wonder if it glows in the dark?

Try working at a large government agency where all the PCs are leased and mostly locked down. At home I'm in my own element, although I am one of the few blessed with the right to install software on my work PC. I used to pack up PCs for moves (and word processors in the pre-PC era long, long, ago)...
