Re: "Scratch"

I myself am an aficionado of all things made from "scratch". I have gone through phases where I have tried to make everything from this plastic like material. I have rolled it out flat, mashed it lumpy, beaten it tender, crushed it to dust, burned and charred it over heat from wood fire to...

nevermore

not happening again; never again. This 12th century word may have little in inherent history, but it's heart wrenching Gothic usage by Edgar Allen in his "The Raven" makes it a super-star among words. I personally hear the word and a mental storm arises where it is pounding in my mind and ...

Re: want

"Want" always bring to mind one of my favorite books and quotes... 'Spirit. are they yours.' Scrooge could say no more. 'They are Man's,' said the Spirit, looking down upon them. 'And they cling to me, appealing from their fathers. This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware them both...

Re: prolegomena

Immanuel Kant wrote a "Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics", if the prolegomena has more then one subject it examine there is no reason it shouldn't be plural.

prolegomena

A critical or discursive introduction to a text.

I got Dame Edna's Bedside Companion book and it has a "Prolegomena by Beverley Nichols" instead of a Preface. Mr. Nichols is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Sorry I missed him, at least we still have Dame Edna.
