We have two similar words in Portuguse but with different accentuation: cúpido (cupidous - stressed on the first syllable) and Cupido (Cupid - stressed on the second syllable).

Slav(on)ic languages' proximity
Is it just me or Germanic and Romance languages are closer to each other than either is to Slavic languages? From these three major branches (major here referring to the number of speakers), I would say the Slavic languages are the hardest, followed by Romance and ending with Germanic? Do you agree?...

Today, while talking to my brother, I hesitated awhile at the word for uncertainty. The word that came to mind first was Spanish incertidumbre (sometimes this happens to me) and I had to translate it into Portuguese, which I did using incertidão, which he definitely understood.
