Thank you, Henri. We have heard from all of our affected relatives and they are all safe, though at least one of my cousins has lost her home. I agree with your hope that the correct conclusions were drawn. I also hope that not too much energy is spent in assessing blame, I think there's plenty of t...

Interesting article, Henri. After last year's hurricane season I either heard or read, I don't remember which, a engineer say that it was not a question of if New Orleans would be innundated by a hurricane, it was a question of when. This disaster hits close to home, figuratively speaking. One of my...

"Lean to the left! Lean to the right! Stand up Sit Down! Fight, fight, fight!" A ridiculous cheer from my high school days often used at football and basketball games. But it was fun. ===================================== Another from basketball (used when someone from another team was at ...

I find myself in agreement with you, Henri. What a great suggestion!

As for quixotism (new word maybe?) among agorists/agorans, are there none here who have ever seen a "windmill" and thought it was a monster, or a "barber's bowl" and thought it was a golden helmet?

Max, In my experience "lucked out" has always meant that someone has enjoyed an unanticipated positive outcome in a given situation. In contrast, the phrase "get lucky" (or the past tense "got lucky") is most often applied to a specific situation in which there is a hop...

Yes, very interesting, Henri. This discovery was a surprise for astronomers, since it was thought that it is impossible for planets to form in multiple star systems. Just another example of how wrong science can sometimes be. The newly discovered planet is interesting in that it takes just three day...

And what caused the big bang? Was the bang followed by the considerable crunch? Do MACHOs make up much of the universe, or are WIMPs really the ruling class?

Henri, what makes you think I like cartoons? I admit as a teen I was fond of "Rocky and Bulwinkle". Well, not the Moose and the Squirrel particularly, but I did enjoy "Fractured Fairy Tales", "Boris and Natasha", and "Mr. Peabody" (can't remember his boy's nam...

Spiff, the statements made by Jacques Chirac and the official of the European Union, both of whom are major supporters of the Kyoto Accords, quoted in the article I posted earlier are pretty convincing proof that the purpose of the control of global warming is not the sole purpose of the Accords. Th...

Henri, Your posting of the absolutely apolitical and totally unbiased Jeff Danziger’s cartoon is certainly enough to convince me to change my ideas about Mr. Bush and Saint Sadam. Or…..maybe not. I have seen the light. The lies told about the peace loving government of Sadam Hussein date back to the...

Henri, it seems to me that whenever you post articles, they are almost always from one of the three mentioned in my post, the NYT, the WP, or the Guardian. My suggestion was a generic one, not specifically targeting the Kyoto protocols nor any influence that Exxon/Mobile might or might not have on P...

Henri, do you not realize that The New York Times, The Washington Post, and the Guardian are all branches of the same tree? For a more balanced view I recommend that you read competing opinions, at least once in a while, try The Weekly Standard for example.
