Abnegation

Postby eberntson » Wed Sep 05, 2007 9:14 am

I found this in my translation of Jules Verne’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth.”

abnegation - the denial and rejection of a doctrine or belief; "abnegation of the Holy Trinity"

1. [n] renunciation of your own interests in favor of the interests of others.

Etymology: Late Latin abnegation-, abnegatio, from Latin abnegare to refute, from ab- + negare to deny
EBERNTSON
Fear less, hope more;
eat less, chew more;
whine less, breathe more;
talk less, say more,
and all good things will be yours.
