otiose

Postby Klimt » Wed Nov 17, 2010 1:46 pm

[oh-shee-ohs, oh-tee-]

1. being at leisure; idle; indolent.
2. ineffective or futile.
3. superfluous or useless.

But those requirements are otiose, because the licensor has no need for the return of a promotional CD, nor the desire to endure the fuss and bother of collecting money for its no return...
Whoever wants to know something about me - as an artist which alone is significant - they should look attentively at my pictures and there seek to recognise what I am and what I want.

Many people, when they get laid off from work and are forced to become otiose. When their attempts to find new gainful employment prove to be otiose, they often feel that their lives have become otiose.
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
