Emasculate

Postby William Hupy » Wed Sep 23, 2015 5:36 pm

Query: is it possible to emasculate a woman? Say a female legislator introduces a bill and it is weakened by amendments, would she then have been emasculated?

If you emasculate a male legislator, you don't actually castrate him. So I would think it could apply to a woman in that sense also.

Personally, even though it's used metaphorically, I'd be leery of using it to refer to a female. Especially as it could be taken to mean you originally considered her masculine.

I think we could easily say her bill was emasculated, but not her.

I believe many people wanted to see Hillary's Bill emasculated once upon a time.
