Sanction
Just read the treasury department sanctioned Hezbollah. "Sanction" puzzles me, as it is a self-contradiction. The first definition I looked up said the noun means censure, but the verb means to approve. In context, the treasury strongly DISapproved of the behavior. How do you read this slippery word?

Aye, this is a slippery one. We can understand it only from context. Here's what the Good Doctor had to say about it.
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
