I'm sure you all know the meaning of the word slosh, but have you come across the acronym? It's used in weather lingo.
SLOSH - Sea, Lake, and Overland Surges for Hurricanes
A most suitable acronym, no?

SLOSH is a neat acronym, but what does it mean? "Sea, Lake, and Overland Surges for Hurricanes" doesn't mean much for me.

I'd say it's for how much sloshing seas, lakes, and overland areas can expect from hurrricanes. As in, "What's the SLOSH estimate for Sandy in NYC and environs?"
