How about a reverse dictionary section? Taking requests for when one is looking for a word that means . . . .
Right now I’m looking for a something - analogous to onomatopoeia - for words like ‘velvet’ or ‘cantankerous’. A word suggesting the tone of the meaning although it has nothing to do with sound, like ‘tinkle’ or ‘boom’.

The dictionary on the front page of alphaDictionary has a reverse lookup. Actually, the dictionary we use, Onelook.com , has the reverse dictionary. The link to it is at the bottom of the Onelook home page.
