ornate

Postby bbeeton » Mon Dec 04, 2023 10:48 pm

This has appeared in quite a few discussions, but not yet on its own.

Having just enjoyed the annual Latin Carol Celebration at my alma mater (the 75th, no less), where the ultima carmina was "Ornate ramosas aulas" ("Deck the halls"), it seemed an appropriate time.

Of course, in Latin, "ornate" (three syllables) is plural imperative, while in English, it's a two-syllable adjective. But in any event, elaborately decorative. Fitting for the season.

Taken up and treated here.
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
