Scrum

Postby William Hupy » Tue Apr 21, 2020 7:57 am

I read this description of trump’s press conferences:

Analysis of a trump press briefing:

The briefing is a pity party, a patriotic pep talk, a media scrum, a tantrum, a sermon, a mood ring, an infomercial, an airing of grievances, a rally without ralliers, a wrestling match without chokeholds, a glimpse of an alternate reality, a hard look at actual reality, and a jargon-filled lecture on epidemiology. A grouch might call it a dumpster-fireside chat. A scholar might say it defies categorization.

I found out that scrum is the shortened version of scrummage. Also a term used in rugby and this:

a set of practices used in agile project management that emphasize daily communication and the flexible reassessment of plans that are carried out in short, iterative phases of work.

Yes, I use the second form daily in my job.

I'd probably go for the pithier 'Goebbels on LSD' as a suitable description for the 'briefing'. YMMV! :D

If one takes part in too many of these, does that make one a scrumbag?
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
