Re: Proofreading

Proofreading is not the easiest task in the world. I volunteered to do so with my brother's second book, and I don't think I really read much of the book itself, as I was looking at the individual words, not what they meant. SCW1217: I noticed it says under your posts you have a "...penchant for spelling anything..." Does this mean you're a great speller or does it mean you have a tendency to spell out everything? Just wondering. Also, it sounds like you had the same high school Chemistry teacher I had! He, t...

Re: April Fool's

Susan,

That's what April Fool's Day is all about. I hope you enjoyed my getting your goat. (Ever wonder why we say that?)
Ah, but you didn't. I knew it was a joke. Still, I could have used it on him! (And might still!)

Rhythm or Rhythmn?

Somewhere back in the deep recesses of my childhood, this word was spelled with the "n". However, with the exception of one other person who posed the question to Yahoo Answers , I can't find any comment on this spelling on the web. Anyone else out there heard of it, and better yet, know w...

We see your alternate term "levirate" in the Bible, Genesis 38:8. It is also referred to in the law Deuteronomy 25:5. (Not the term itself, but the practice of it.)

Yard

My mother said to me today, "Only Americans have 'yards' everywhere else it is a garden" (as in "go out in the yard") I don't know that to be strictly true, but because of her comment I had to look up the word. Interestingly enough, "yard" and "garden" come fr...
