I know the story to which you refer, but I as I recall, Texas was not an element in the joke. It had to do with what one must accomplish to qualify as a "sourdough." As for what it takes to become a sough dough, I can add two more methods: 1) Watch the ice come in and watch the ice go out ...

Re: BLANDISHMENT
Legislatures in some jurisdictions believe the blandishments have been too effective and are legislating to remove such blandishments as drop-off ballot boxes and automatic registration at the department of motor vehicles.

But there is a lion in Scotland. If you look at the Royal Coat of Arms of Scotland, you will see it has a red lion standing up and facing left (with respect to the viewer). If someone knows how to describe this animal using proper heraldic terminology, please correct my feeble attempt.

The James Webb Space Telescope will be heading for the L2 Lagrange point later this year, assuming it is not again delayed. The L2 Lagrange point with respect to the earth is the one about 1,500,000 km away from the earth and directly away from the sun. (Sun . . 1 AU . . Earth . . 1,500,000km . . L2...

I believe Bbeeton's point is that the pronunciation guide says "fomite" is pronounced "fo-mait" where the second syllable rhymes with "bait" while words like "stalagmite" are pronounced to rhyme with "bite"

Laver, the substance but not the word, is alive and well in Japan and Korea. I imagine many Agorans know it and have eaten it in the form of nori, the dried seaweed that forms the wrapping in nigiri at the sushi bar. "Laver," the word, does appear from time to time in guidebooks discussing...
